If you’re in the market for a table saw, what are the most important things to look for to make sure you’re getting good value for your dollar? What factors make your table saw a good choice?
The Dust Collector
The dust collection is one of the best things that you can do to not only keep your work area clean but also to make sure that your saw will keep running a lot longer. Machines like the Rockwell RK7241S come with a dust collection system that cones pre-installed, and this makes it an attractive option. You can also buy external systems that hook up to the underside of your saw, but this will, of course, add a bit of extra cost to the purchase price of your table saw.
Blade
Each hybrid table saw on our listing is going to come with an all-purpose blade standard. And this depends on the type of work that you plan to complete, you might want to switch out this blade. This is true if you are looking to get a finer cutting, as the standard blade might not be able to cut down your materials without cutting it roughly. The same can be said if you are cutting tough materials, and as a finer all-purpose blade might not be up to the task.
Ripping Capacity
The ripping capacity of any table saw is just how large of a piece of wood you can cut. Larger tables have a much higher capacity, and this makes them great for larger projects. The smaller saws like the DEWALT DW744XRS are better for smaller, more precise work since they do not have the ability to cut larger pieces with ease.
Miter Gauge
The miter gauge allows you to accurately cut pieces of wood on angles, much like a miter saw. The miter gauge slides into the channels cut into the surface and they are used to push the wood into the blade so as to cut the angle. These gauges should be easy to read, easy to adjust, and should also stay tight when you are using them.
